DoD Combat Feeding Directorate begins lab expansion
NATICK, Mass. --- Media are invited to attend a short construction kickoff ceremony of the DoD Combat Feeding Directorate’s food lab here on Monday, March 7, 10:30 a.m.
The ceremony will consist of brief remarks by Brig. Gen. James Moran, commander of the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center, Philip Brandler, director of the Natick Soldier Center, and a staffer from Congressman Ed Markey’s office. Markey was instrumental in securing funding for the project. Following the remarks, there will be a symbolic “wall breaking” ceremony to signal the kickoff of the construction.
The expansion will add 18,650 square feet of lab and office space to the existing Combat Feeding facility, enhancing and expanding its capabilities. Congress approved $4.6 million for the expansion in the 2003 Defense Appropriations Bill.
Media interested in attending the event should call the Public Affairs Office at 508-233-4300 by close of business Friday, March 4. The PAO will coordinate the names of reporters and news crews with security to expedite entry onto the installation.
All media attending the event should be set up by 10:20 a.m.
