Future of precision airdrop to be showcased

NATICK, Mass. The latest airdrop technologies will be shown during the Precision Airdrop Technology Conference and Demonstration (PATCAD) at U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground, Ariz., from Oct. 17-21.

PATCAD gives attendees the chance to see almost all precision airdrop systems being developed and tested by the United States and its allies. Some of the systems scheduled to be shown include Dutch Space Spades, Sherpa Guided Parachute System, Parafinder Parachute System and Navigation Unit for Paratroopers, and the Joint Precision Airdrop System Mission Planner. Approximately 140 parachute drops will take place during the event.

Briefings and displays will be held at the Yuma Civic and Convention Center while airdrop demonstrations will be held at U.S. Army Yuma Proving Ground ranges. Media are invited to attend the event, however, please note that you must make arrangements ahead of time. Media visits to the drop zone to witness various parachute drops are currently scheduled to take place on the morning of Thursday, October 20.
