SBCCOM shows off protective equipment during briefing for industry

Natick, Mass. --- The U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command (SBCCOM) has scheduled the Warrior Systems Advanced Planning Briefing for Industry (APBI) May 22-24 at John Ascuaga's Nugget Resort in Reno, Nev.

APBIs describe SBCCOM's mid and long range research and development plans and programs for industry, academia and potential contract partners. They foster early dialogue with the private sector to develop a mutual understanding of future contract requirements and industry capabilities.

This APBI will showcase protective individual and collective equipment, clothing and integrated soldier and soldier support systems for military and civilian personnel, and includes an exhibit and various speakers.

Some of the exhibits that will be shown include camouflage face paint, ballistics items, chemical suits, airbeam technology, airdrop leaflet delivery system, space heaters, Objective Force Warrior and a live demonstration of the Land Warrior system.

Acquisition opportunities for industry and joint ventures for academia will be presented at this event.

Speakers will present several topics, including "Transforming the Way We Support Soldiers in the Field," "Fueling the Warfighter for 2010/2025," "Microclimate Cooling" and "Opportunities for Investment in Technology to Address Urban Warfighter Needs."

A food safety workshop will be conducted on May 24. This workshop will cover sensor development and efforts within the government to respond to the food safety initiative.

The exhibit will be open May 23 from noon - 7 p.m. and May 24 from 10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Briefings are currently scheduled from 8 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. on May 23 and from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on May 24. The agenda can be found online at
