Son of Holocaust Survivor to speak at Remembrance Program
NATICK, Mass. - The Holocaust Remembrance Committee at the Soldier Systems Center will present a Holocaust Remembrance Program on Thursday, May 1 at 10:00 a.m. in Hunter Auditorium. Jeff Jacoby, son of a Holocaust survivor and Op-Ed columnist for the Boston Globe will be the keynote speaker. The title of his talk will be, “My Father’s Shoes: A Story of Survival.”
Media is invited to attend. If planning to attend, or for more information, please contact Patty Welsh at 508-233-5945 or Jerry Whitaker at 508-233-5340.
Holocaust commemoration activities are sponsored annually by governors, mayors, and other civic and religious leaders in communities across the country. The Secretary of Defense encourages the military branches to conduct appropriate observances. It was America’s military forces that witnessed the atrocities of the Holocaust when they liberated concentration camps across Europe. Observances are conducted cognizant of the fact that members of the nation's military must remember both the values that Americans stand for and the tyranny we stand against.
Local World War II veterans groups have also been invited to attend.
