Army offers media opportunity with Gen. Benjamin Griffin
NATICK, Mass. --- The U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center (SSC), also known as Natick Labs, will host a visit for Gen. Benjamin Griffin, commander of the U.S. Army Materiel Command (AMC), on Thursday, March 2.
As part of this visit, we are offering a media opportunity with Griffin (http://www.amc.army.mil/bios/griffin/griffin.html) from 2:30 to 3 p.m. that day.
Griffin is one of only 10 four-star generals in the U.S. Army. As commander of AMC, he leads a world-wide organization that is responsible for all of the Army’s equipment.
A veteran with more than 35 years of service, Griffin is returning this week from South West Asia where he personally observed AMC-developed equipment in use by our Soldiers. This trip also allowed Griffin the opportunity to talk to Soldiers about the equipment and to hear their comments on the equipment’s design and performance.
The Natick facility hosts two AMC elements, the Natick Soldier Center and the Integrated Logistics Support Center. Natick’s AMC mission includes researching and developing food, clothing, shelters, airdrop items, and Soldier support items that improve the quality of life for our warfighters in the field. The AMC mission here also includes the logistics required to support this equipment.
Media interested in attending this opportunity should call the SSC Public Affairs Office by 10 a.m., March 2, to ensure access onto the installation. Please call 508-233-5340, 508-233-5945, or 508-233-4391.
Also, media should plan on arriving at SSC at 2 p.m. to process through security. Once on site, media will be escorted to the media opportunity site by 2:15 so they can set up for the 2:30 event.
