Display to showcase Soldier technology and food

NATICK, Mass. Why are American military forces the best protected, best equipped and best sustained troops in the world today? What important role does science play in the technology used by our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen and women, and Coast Guard personnel especially during times of war?

You can get the answers to these questions, talk one-on-one to subject matter experts, and see some of the gear and equipment developed here in Massachusetts for all American service members on May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Boston at the Massachusetts State House in the Great Hall.

State Senator Karen Spilka (D Ashland) and Brig. Gen. R. Mark Brown, commanding general of the U.S. Army Soldier Systems Center (SSC) in Natick and the Program Executive Officer Soldier (PEO Soldier) at Fort Belvoir, Va., will host this event that features displays showcasing Warfighter equipment -- present and future most of which originates from or is developed in the Commonwealth.

Other state representatives sponsoring this event include: Senator Scott Brown and Representatives David Linsky and Alice Peisch.

Some of the key events include:

10 a.m.: Displays open to media and public.

10:30 a.m.: Comments from Undersecretary for Business Development Bob Coughlin, Sen. Spilka and Brig. Gen. Brown.
