Army to celebrate Flag Day, Army
NATICK, Mass. --- The U.S. Army Natick Soldier Systems Center (SSC)
and the Natick Veterans Council will celebrate Flag Day and the
Army Birthday on Thursday at Moran Park in Natick.
June 14 is historically significant because the Continental
Congress approved the design of our flag on that date in 1777,
and because the U.S. Army was born on that day in 1775, more
than a year before the birth of America with the signing of the
Declaration of Independence in 1776.
To recognize this important date and to honor our flag and our
Army and veterans from all services, SSC Soldiers will join with
members of the Natick Veterans Council in ceremonies at Moran
Park near the MBTA commuter rail line in Natick.
Currently planned are three events at Moran Park:
6:30 a.m.: Flag raising ceremony.
Noon: Short ceremony recognizing Flag Day and the Army Birthday,
as well as those Natick Veterans memorialized in Moran Park.
4:30 p.m.: Retreat ceremony.
