Introduction
The National Protection Center (NPC) is the US Army Natick Soldier Research, Development and Engineering Center's focal point and liaison for project management of inter-agency related Homeland Defense/Security efforts.
NPC partners with other government agencies, academia and industry to promote and fund RDT&E programs for advanced individual and integrated protective clothing and equipment used by personnel executing missions related to public safety, Homeland Security and Homeland Defense. Employing the concept of Human Systems Integration, NPC leverages military technology and state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to ensure effective, sustainable, and supportable systems are achieved.
National Focal Point
- Establish RDT&E teams for PPE for Homeland Security Operations
- Promote technology integration, interoperability, standardization
- Support national high-priority PPE initiatives for military and civilians during homeland security operations or performing high-risk activities
- Support tech transfer related technology policies and procedures
- Assess projects of high dual-user relevance
- Identify shared/leverages technology and knowledge investments
